dreamcatcher-nights-deactivated asked: i totally understand where your coming from in this whole debacle. You are the author, you dictate when something is updated depending on whats going on in your life. I also think you may have over-reacted to what that person said, because when i read it, it sounds like they are joking around and simply wanting you to update your amazing story. And your entitled to anything you want to think about it but maybe just take all those messages at face value as the compliments that they are.
I would have taken it as a compliment if it didn’t come off sounding like a demand to me. I don’t “need” to do anything but get old and die now that right there could be called rude. I don’t mind people asking me when I’m going to have an update or if I plan on finishing a story. I know I have stories that are left hanging out there and I do intend to finish them. My problem is when someone comes off acting like I owe them something, and to me, that was the way the ask came off. Maybe I got defensive about it, but it’s just food for thought that maybe that anon wasn’t the only person to approach me on that same subject that day and when it comes off sounding rude to me I feel like I have every right to get just as rude.
Treat people the way you want to be treated and all that Golden Rule type stuff. If you’re not rude to me, I won’t be rude to you.
The internet is a tricky place because even though I might be typing this with the sweetest tone in my head, you might read it like I’m the biggest bitch in the world. For that reason, if you’re worried about the way someone perceives you, check the way you word things. If you don’t want someone to think you’re an asshole, don’t give them a reason to think you are.
